It was only in the movies

In The Present we see the increasingly complicated relationship between Kat and Stacey. This story is probably the most disturbing of the collection. Most people who have experienced small town life,have heard rumours or accusations of the type of scandal that unfolds here. The present is a fictional account of poor choices, limited options,and terrible advice suggesting a horrendous outcome. It is tragic on many levels but is about a situation that many young women have faced with fear, stress, and uncertainty for their future. I presented it not to shock, moralize, or judge either Kat or Stacey, but to show how a stress-induced answer to a shocking situation can forever impact the lives of two young people.
